Alternative rock

Alternative Rock is a term in contemporary music, which is understood as various genres of rock music, opposing traditional. The term appeared in the 1980s. and covered many genres, originating in punk rock, postpanke, etc.. Currently, alternative rock is divided into two stages.: the first is the groups of the 1980s. with a wide range of musical identity; the second - the groups of the 1990s., received after the commercial success of American grunge in 1991-1993. the same major label support and promotion, like traditional pop and rock bands (alternative rock itself in those years became associated mainly with grunge and post-grunge bands, myself, thus, became a genre), at the same time, more uncompromising ensembles went into the underground.
